Horse riding arena, also known as menage. An area where horse owners school their horses should be safe, with an all-weather surface and a strong base to support all actions in the area. This will reduce the chance of horses getting injured during schooling.
Furthermore, all training performed in the arena will put pressure on the ground. Without a solid base to support the ground, the soil will be compressed which causes the ground to be uneven; surface water will be retained and create muddy uneven areas that are a da ger to both horse and rider.
